About

By Leslie Pratch

This blog is based on work with the clients of Pratch & Company over the last 14 years. This work began with the development of a library of competencies for State Farm Insurance Companies in 1995. This library is still in use at State Farm.

Over the past 10 years, our work in the area of competency models has emphasized senior management roles and helping members of executive search committees, including boards of directors, to conduct efficient and rigorous behavior-based interviews.

The purpose of this blog is to help you conduct better interviews and build strong management teams. One series of entries is devoted entirely to structured interviewing. For ease of reference, all entries in that particular series are arranged under the category, “Management Team Building.” This series represents best practices in competency modeling and structured interviewing by lay persons (as opposed to a clinical approach).

Another series focuses on combining conventional approaches to management assessment with a clinical approach. Entries in that series are classified under “Executive Assessment.”
